Mr. Vieira has been a faculty member of the School of Dance of the National Conservatory since 1994, as a resident member of the faculty. He has been teaching Classical Dance Technique, Pas de Deux, Classical variations and Choreographic Workshops. He was responsible for the artistic direction of EDCN’s Choreographic Workshops and Final Performances from 2000 to 2008. From 2002 to 2003 he was Vice-President of the Executive Board of this school and in 2003 he assumed the presidency, a position he held until 2008. He was elected Coordinator of the Department of Classical Dance in July 2017 and appointed Artistic Director of the National Conservatory Dance Art School in September of the same year.

Academic and artistic training
He attended the piano course of the School of Music of the National Conservatory in Lisbon
He attended the Superior Course of Philosophy at the Lisbon University.
He studied dance at the Gulbenkian Ballet School and at the George Brown College in Toronto, Canada.

Artistic and teaching career
He was a founding member of the National Ballet Company of Portugal under the direction of Armando Jorge, where from 1977 to 1984, he danced prominent roles in the Company extensive repertoire. From 1984 to 1991 he was a solo dancer with the Scapino Ballet Amsterdam under the direction of Armando Navarro and Nils Christe. He performed in Portugal, Spain, France, Holland, Italy, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Macau, China and Canada.

He was a faculty member of the Professional Ballet School of the National Theater of S. Carlos in Lisbon. From 1999 to 2003 he was Ballet Master of the Portuguese Company of Contemporary Dance, C.P.B.C. under the direction of Vasco Wellenkamp.
Since 1991 he has been a guest teacher for several companies and schools in Europe and the United States of America, including the Ballet Gulbenkian, National Ballet of Portugal, Scapino Ballet Amsterdam, Ballet of the Opera in Ulm, Germany, and at the Atlanta Ballet in the USA where he has been a guest teacher for the Atlanta Ballet and for the Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Educational for the past 14 years. He has choreographed several pieces in the framework of the Choreographic Workshops of E.D.C.N., for the Higher School of Dance in Lisbon, for the Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Education in the USA and for the Kayser Ballet in Covilhã, Portugal.
He was member of the Jury of Tanzolimp 2019 edition.
