He started his professional training at the State Choreographic School in Sofia with L. Dinovska and K. Yankov. In 1968 he finished the Leningrad Choreographic School “А. Vaganova”, traning with V. Shelkov and G. Selyudskiy. Since 1970 he has been Premier Dancer of the National Opera and Ballet in Sofia. His debut was in Apollo of Mousagette by I. Stravinsky. He danced the roles of Siegfried in Swan Lake,
Desire in The Sleeping Beauty, the Prince in The Nutcracker by P. Tchaikovsky, Albert in Giselle by A. Adam, Basil in Don Quixote by L. Minkus, Spartacus in Spartacus by Khachaturyan, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet by S. Prokofiev, etc. He has worked with choreographers such as Y. Grigorovich, S. Lifar, O. Vonogradov, A. Alonso, O. Danovski, P. Loukanov, M. Arnaudova and other. He was guest artist in Europe, USA, South America and Asia.
In 1968 he was awarded First Class Distinction at the 4th International Ballet Competition in Varna. In 1973 he was awarded as Best Partner at the 2nd International Ballet Competition in Moscow. In 1974 he won the First Prize and a gold medal at the 7th International Ballet Competition in Varna.
He has many times taught at the International Summer Ballet Academy – Varna.
He was member of the jury of the international ballet competitions in Varna, Moscow, Paris and Osaka.
In 2008 he was Artistic Director of the Sofia Opera Ballet.
For 26 years he has been a teacher in the National School of Dance Art- Sofia.
He holds master’s degree in ballet pedagogy and ballet production from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv where he is teaching since 2001.
